Sunshine : Adopted 20-Oct-2023
She’s fond of you singing the “you are my sunshine” song to her, and she loves it when you get up in the morning and tell her “Good morning Sunshine!” She’s got a beautiful sunny disposition and honestly all she wants to do is learn stuff.
Sunshine is a bouncy happy pup who shows signs of being given holy heck one time too many. She’s a sweetheart, and an angel 99% of the time but she is DOG and the other 1% of the time she’s in a word … insane.
Sunshine is the dog who will jump a gate at the top of the stairs, and will do her best to escape out of a third story window if left open. No guff.
Sunshine also likes to bemoan the fact you are out of her sight and will need remediation for her separation anxiety. Around here she’s actually doing quite well with laying eyes on a human being roughly every 4 – 6 hours and has only jumped the gate once …
Sunshine will be being spayed, and given every shot we can provide to her. She is a beautiful and needy girl who would fare well in a spot where she’s all that and more to you. She loves car rides, she’s a fan of the treats and is learning there’s enough for everyone. Don’t be greedy or a bully. She can exhibit prey drive with small dogs, cats would definitely not be good for her. She is fine with other large dogs and is halfway hoping she and Annabelle can stay together, so she can learn more tricks. The humans really like Annabelle, and Sunshine knows this, and is doing her utmost half grown puppy best to emulate the good behaviour, with actually quite good success.
As a half mature, overgrown girl child, Sunshine adores her long sunset strolls along the waterfront and is happy to chase the deer if you’d only let her (we do not recommend that you do) When her DNA results are back her page will be updated with that information, and adopters will receive her test ID and information.
Honestly she’s not a bad dog, and with a small amount of 1:1 time, dedication, and devotion she will prove to be an amazing companion and likely hunting minded assistant to the person who has a clue how to train her for such things.
Annabelle has been teaching her all the tricks, and she’s picking up those helpful insights really, really, REALLY quickly like, watch and learn – no instruction provided. I SUSPECT Sunshine’s big problem is she’s been too smart for her previous handlers, she bores without the teaching, training, and stimulation and – using what she does know, gets into trouble.
DO NOT raise your hand to this dog … you will lose her trust immediately, she will not respect you, and the “war” will be “on” – firm is fine yes, but frustrated, demanding, or angry – no. She will roll over on you and simply show fear, you want her open, trusting, attentive and focused, not afraid.
That’s my way of saying:
In the wrong hands she will rapidly become a handful and a half.
In the right hands she will rapidly become the most amazingly well trained animal in town.
We’re looking for the person who is option #2 for her.
If you’d like to “trial” Sunshine feel free to request to foster her.
This page will continue to be updated as we have info and she goes through the process, until Sunshine is moved into the AVAILABLE page.
