Annabelle: Rest In Peace

Introducing Queen Annabelle (everyone’s favorite FAT BOTTOMED GIRL :D )
Annabelle sadly has Cushings disease, we’ll start straight off by letting you know; She’s sick. Cushings disease causes inflammation of the liver, tireless thirst, massive hunger, over production of growth hormones, and crazy weight gain even despite her being calorie restricted and exercised.
You will not be “kind” to her by feeding her, giving her treats, or rewarding her with chewies … Sorry, but despite her big sad baby hippopotamus eyes, she is not starving, and she should absolutely never have people food, or anything beef.
Ok that’s the bad news … out of the way.

Because Annabelle has Cushings disease, her owner dropped her off at some point in the past, and walked away from her. Knowing the dog – she tried to follow them. Stories range from last year, through to recently. Mid July when she came to us, she was in an episode of liver failure and left abandoned at a local golf course. She was picked up, and vomited repeatedly.
Since then she’s been much better on a BEEF FREE diet, feeding her at a ratio of a 40 lb dog (she is currently 85 lbs, and gaining.) She looks great, her coat is good, she’s got bounce in her step and sparkle in her eye.

IF she is medicated she will likely begin losing weight, and significant reduction in symptoms should very likely result. Currently she is spayed, UTD on rabies, UTD on her vaccines. Knows a boatload of tricks, and is happy to show off for you. She loves to get out and go for walks despite her ever increasing size. She’s good with bitty dogs, cats, medium dogs, and even large dogs – but she’s “less than a fan” of unaltered males. She has more energy than you’d expect out of a dog this chonky, and yes she’s respectful of your space.
She prefers to sleep on the floor beside a bed. She is 0 on a home destruction scale, and while she does occasionally have bladder issues that is correlated to the excessive drinking stuff and should she be medicated, thus giving her an anticipated further 4 or 5 years on life … such things are likely to recede into memory.
Annabelle is a boatload of tricks, arriving to you pre-trained and ready to play. Her known repertoire includes: Come, sit, down, shake, other paw, stay, catch, balance a treat on your nose, wait, move, and the always popular “yo! Woman”
She enjoys car rides and is especially fond of you singing while you drive.
Annabelle has a big voice, but around here anyway she’s pretty quiet most of the time and far more interested in cuddles and scratches than barking at stray leaves.

IF SHE IS MEDICATED: That will be an ongoing cost of 100 – 200$ a month.
If she remains un-medicated (at 6 lbs a month) the weight gain will quickly be her demise.
Because of this there will be no adoption fees for Annabelle, but she will instead be placed as “long term foster”

Her age related DNA results have been received, and with a telomere-length-estimate of Two Years,
she is showing as genetically much younger than the original "5 years" guesstimates:

Annabelle has now begun receiving medication for her Cushings, and the initial response to the meds are already looking positive.
